We are a network of autistic individuals, parent representatives and organisational representatives

Membership is open to women across the autistic spectrum whether they have received a diagnosis or are in the process of seeking an assessment. We welcome those with related conditions as we embrace the neurodiversity paradigm and because it is well-known that there are many women who have not had their conditions recognised or diagnosed or who have been misdiagnosed due to being born during the dark ages of autism.

We include those who self-identify and those currently seeking a diagnosis.

  • Women diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum or related neurological condition·

  • Women who consider that they have either had their difficulties missed or misdiagnosed·

  • Mothers of Autistic Girls

How You Can Get Involved

The AWE Project Advisory  Group

Behind the scenes of all our work is a network of women and girls of all ages and abilities

Together our advisory and focus groups are putting together information that can help women post-diagnosis and provide useful information for mothers raising autistic girls.  and also educate those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of autistic females.

If you are an autistic woman diagnosed or self-recognising who is over 18 and living in Wales or the UK and would like to be further involved in our online focus groups or volunteer for our advisory group

Please email us at theaweprojectwales@gmail.com and we will send you further details of our various methods of involvement

Online Groups

We are very aware that many of us meeting new people and attending

large groups can be extremely difficult and therefore we want to ensure

multiple methods of participation. We will be placing private forums on

the Autistic UK website  so that we have a safe area to meet and

discuss our concerns.
